Welcome to The Little Yogi Gallery featuring the paintings of RRDeVries.
DIRECTORY: --------------- INTRODUCTION -------------- Hello to you! In my last introduction I alluded (in red) to a problem of tremor in my hands. This condition has not been alleviated to any great degree by the medications prescribed to me however one or two people suggested that I try to paint even WITH the tremor. It turned out that, indeed, I was (am) able to paint and you will see the results of these “two handed” efforts in the new paintings offered here at Little Yogi Gallery. In the new paintings, the style is looser, somewhat more washy than the earlier style. This is not because of the tremor. I’m looking at a different way of working the watercolors. Also, some other changes have taken place here…… the prices of all the Front Room Gallery Originals have been reduced from $3200 to $1600. I had hoped that some brick and mortar gallery would pick up my work. So my website wouldn’t undercut them, I came up with the higher price. Well, no one came forward so I might as well offer these paintings at the lower price and get on with it. If you would like to purchase a painting or print you will need to email me (email @littleyogigallery.com) and we’ll work out the details from there. You’ll see that the format has changed too. Now instead of clicking on the image to see it in a larger size, simply go to the lower right corner on your screen and change the percentage up or down to whatever suits you. This time around, I'd like to offer my opinion to you in the form of recommending some of my favorite books:
1. Little Yogi Gallery Home page (you are here)
2. Front Room Gallery I - Fantastic/Narative paintings (watercolor)
3. Front Room Gallery II - Fantastic/Narative paintings (watercolor)
4. Front Room Gallery III - Fantastic/Narative paintings (watercolor)
5. Front Room Gallery IV -Fantastic/Narative paintings (watercolor)
6. Front Room Gallery V -Fantastic/Narative paintings (watercolor)
7. Back Room Gallery I -Earlier work (various media)
8. Back Room Gallery II - Earlier work (various media)
9. Back Room Gallery III - Earlier work (various media)
10. Back Room Gallery IV - Earlier work (various media)
1. "The Holographic Universe" by Michael Talbot
2. "The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying" by Sogyal Rinpoche
3. "Zen Flesh, Zen Boans" by Paul Reps
4. "Bhagavad-Gita (The Song of God) translated by Swami Prabhavananda and Christopher Isherwood. You can find this on "alibris.com". There are lots of translations of the BG but some can be pretty tedious with commentaries, the one I have doesn't have all that "extra". And if you can find one with an introduction by Aldious Huxley....This is supreme!
Well, let's call that it for this time, email me if you have questions.
With Joy, Love and Enthusiasm,
RRDeVries
P.S. I almost forgot, find the similarities in the two paintings on this page.
